Beach Patrol

Penny Shull from the Galveston Island Beach Patrol recently gave a water safety and lifeguard demonstration to interested Crosby students.

Each year, The Galveston Island Beach Patrol strives to reach as many school aged children and youth in Galveston and the surrounding area as possible. Our message is simple:
Avoid Rip Currents - Stay away from rock jetties and piers
Swim Near A Lifeguard
Never Swim Alone
Do Not Dive in Headfirst
Obey Warning Signs and Flags
Take Sun and Heat Precautions

San Jacinto Battleground State Park

Crosby Middle School ~ Hitchcock ISD

Students from Crosby's 7th grade class and adult chaperones visited San Jacinto Battleground State Park Monday. Upon arrival the students first visited the San Jacinto Museum of History and checked-out the variety of historical artifacts, then they viewed "Texas Forever" in the Jesse H. Jones Theatre for Texas Studies. Finally, everyone rode the elevator 500 feet up to the observation level to check out the view from the world's tallest monument column. Then it was a short ride across the park to the shady picnic grounds near Sam Houston's Texan army historical campground for a quick lunch.
After lunch, everyone toured the historic Battleship TEXAS ~ the only surviving Dreadnought Battleship and the only surviving ship anywhere in the world that participated in both WW I and WW II.

Too soon, it was time to leave! Smiles abounded as everyone boarded the waiting busses for the hour long ride home.
